In my Despatch No.91 of

the 24th September last, I requested Your Lordship to direct that no part

of Mr. Napier's salary should be paid to him until an

Action that had been commenced against him in the Supreme Court by a Chinese Contractor had been decided.

I have now the honour to report that Mr Napier's securities have informed me that they have found it expedient to compromise the matter by the payment of the sum of £10,163 and costs amounting to £42.16.10.
